1951 yılında İstanbul'da doğdu. Aslen Hakkari'lidir ve çocukluk yılları orada geçti. Tiyatro, mim, dans ve şan eğitimi aldı.Operada bir süre koroda çalıştı.Azerice şarkıları çok iyi yorumladığı bilinir.Bunun yanısıra Yunanca, Fransızca, Rumca ve birçok lehçede şarkı söyleyebilen sanatçı olarak isim yapmıştır. Yurt çapında çok göz önünde olmayan sanatçı genelde çeşitli il ve ülkelerde konserler verdi.Bunun yanısıra pek çok Diplomatik konserler verdi. Başlıca diplomatik konserleri; Portekiz Cumhurbaşkanı Mario Suarez, USA Başkanı George Bush, Malezya Kralı ve Kraliyet Ailesine verdikleridir.Bunların yanı sıra Sopot Festivali, Abdi İpekçi Barış ve Dostluk Derneği Konseri,Türkmen başı Aşkabad konseri, Curaçao Trubdour Festivali gibi etkinliklerde yer aldı. Şevval Sam ve Şehnaz Sam adında iki kızı vardır.
