1946 yılında İstanbul da doğan Ajda Pekkan'ın Babası Subay, annesi ev hanımıydı Çok ‘sosyal ve modern’ bir çevrede yetişti. Çocukluğu babasının işi dolayısıyla Gölcük´te geçti.  Kariyeri : 1963 yılında Ses dergisinin açmış olduğu artist yarışmasına katıldı ve birinci oldu. Hemen ilk filmini çevirdi. Sanat hayatı boyunca birçok filmde rol aldı. Bunların en bilinenlerinden birisi de ´Abidik Gubidik´ti. Bu filmde Öztürk Serengil ve Aysel Tanju ile rol aldı. 1970´lerde müzik piyasasına adım attı. 1975-76´lı yıllarda sözlerini Fikret Şeneş´in yazdığı aranjörlüğünü Noray Demirci´nin yaptığı ´Hoş Gör Sen´, 1977 yılında seslendirdiği Fransızca parça 'Viens Dans Ma Vie' filmlerde yer almıştır.  Artık Türkiye´nin tanıdığı biriydi. Türkiye´de estetik ameliyatı konusunda bir ilk oldu. Türk popunun ilk aşaması diyebileceğimiz ´aranjman´ modasının ilk ürünlerini verenlerden oldu.  1973 yılında Avrupa´nın ünlü müzikholü ´Olympia´da verdiği konserle hem dış dünyaya açıldı.Türkiye’nin mutlu azınlığı ona ´Süperstar´ unvanını verdi. 7 yıl kadar Fransa´da kaldıktan sonra ülkesine döndü. Ülkü Aker ve Fikret Şenes gibi söz yazarlarıyla çalıştı.  Aman Petrol  1980 yılında Türkçe sözlerini Şanar Yurdatapan ve müziğini Atilla Özdemiroğlu nun yaptığı Petrol adlı parçasıyla Eurovision da ülkemizi temsil etmiştir. Müzik yelpazesini genişleten Pekkan, Jazz türüne eğildi ve Amerikalı ünlü bir sanatçıyla konser verdi. Bu konserde ona vokalist olarak Mazhar-Fuat-Özkan eşlik etti. 90´lı yıllarda her sene bir albüm çıkardı. En son ´The Best Of Ajda´ adlı bir albüm yayınladı.
