5 Ocak 1943 te Ankara’da doğdu. Müziğe sekiz yaşında özel keman dersleri alarak başladı. Okul yıllarında çeşitli müzik etkinliklerine katılmanın yanı sıra Flüt, Vibrafon, Kontrbas ve Trombon gibi müzik aletleri çalmayı öğrendi 1966 yılında Durul Gence 5 orkestrası ile çalışmak üzere İstanbul’a geldi ve Ajda Pekkan’ın ilk şarkılarına aranjör olarak imza attı. Daha sonra sırasıyla Durul Gence 5, Şerif Yüzbaşıoğlu orkestralarında çalıştı. Selçuk Başar ve Garo Mafyan ile İstanbul Gelişim Orkestrasını Kurdu 1973 tarihinden itibaren sahne çalışmasını bırakan Özdemiroğlu, Şanar Yurdatapan ile kurduğu Şat Yapımda daha çok aranjör, besteci ve stüdyo müzisyeni olarak çalışmaya devam etti.Bu dönemde Nilüfer, Sezen Aksu, Kayahan gibi birçok şarkıcının ilk çalışmalarını yaptı. 1979’da “Yedi Kocalı Hürmüz” müzikali ile birlikte müzikal çalışmalarına da başlayan besteci, aynı zamanda yirmi beş kadar film müziği besteledi ve bunlardan dolayı altı adet altın portakal ödülü kazandı.
