15 Kasım 1971 yılında Almanya'nın Neviges şehrinde doğan Işılak, ilk, orta ve lise öğrenimini Almanya'da tamamladıktan sonra Açık Öğretim İktisat Fakültesinde öğrenimine devam etti. Çocukluğunu, Almanya'nın Neviges şehrinde geçiren sanatçı, daha sonra ailesiyle birlikte Gelsenkirchen şehrine taşındı. Henüz çocukluk yıllarında, şiire ve şairlere olan merakı ile sekiz yaşlarında ilk şiirlerini yazmaya başladı. Oniki yaşlarında ağabeyi Abdullah Işılak'tan bağlama çalmayı öğrendi. Bağlamada çalmayı öğrenmekle birlikte, genelde halk edebiyatı normlarında yazdığı şiirlerini, Onüç yaşında bestelemeye başladı ve ilk albümünü 1988 yılında dinleyicinin beğenisine sundu. Albümün promosyonuyla beraber Avrupa'nın muhtelif yerlerinde konser verdi.    Kendi kaset çalışmalarını devam ettirmek amacıyla 1990 yılında Almanya'da ses kayıt stüdyosu kurarak aranje ve tonmaisterlik yeteneklerini de geliştirdi. Yaklaşık 15 yıllık profesyonel sanat hayatında, sözü ve müziği kendisine ait olan 250'ye yakın eser ve yüzlerce şiir ortaya koydu. ”Dönen Alçak Olsun” isimli albümünü müzikseverlere sunmak amacıyla Temmuz 1998 yılında Türkiye'ye yerleşen sanatçı, yapım, promosyon ve dağıtım amacıyla “Divan Müzik” şirketini kurdu. 2000 yılında aynı şirkette çıkardığı “Söyleyeceklerim Var” isimli albümüyle sanat dünyasında adından söz ettirmeyi başardı.
