1919 yılında Şanlıurfa’da doğdu, 1988 yılında vefat etti. Babasının adı   İbrahim, annesi  İslim’ dir. Esas mesleği tenekeciliktir. Kütüphane memurluğundan emekli oldu. Şanlıurfa'nın folklor tarihinde en büyük müzisyen ve kaynak kişilerden biridir. Devrin en büyük ustalarından istifade etmiştir. Urfa repertuarında icra edilen türküleri, hoyratları, gazelleri bilir ve makam esasına göre eksiksiz okurdu.  Urfa ile ilgili; hikâye, masal, mani, gazel, atasözleri ve benzeri folklorik bilgilerin hemen hemen hepsinde söz sahibi idi. Büyük bir halk bilimcisi ve müzik üstadıdır. Şanlıurfa adına birçok türküyü TRT repertuarına kazandırmıştır. Ayca Milli Folklor Araştırma Dairesi tarafından Urfa'da yapılan derleme çalışmalarında kendisinden kaynak kişi olarak faydalanılmıştır
